SUSPECT FLEES TRAFFIC STOP

CRISP COUNTY- November 13, 2017

Randolph Alexander Tilton, 21 resident of Gulf Breeze, Florida was arrested Saturday, November 11, 2017 around 2:00 PM. Lieutenant Ben Sumner initiated a traffic stop on a 2014 red Chrysler Crossfire for excess speeding on GA 401.

Upon license check Lieutenant Sumner received information that Tilton’s license was suspended. Lieutenant Sumner requested Tilton to step to the rear of the vehicle to speak. After informing Tilton of his charges he became quite upset. While Lieutenant Sumner proceeded to arrest Tilton he broke away refusing all verbal commands. Lieutenant Sumner attempted to pursue Tilton as he attempted to drive off.

After resisting arrest and driving off Tilton exited GA 401 at the 101 exit and stuck a concrete divider. Tilton then left the scene of the crash on foot. Lieutenant Sumner and additional units were able to maintain a perimeter and locate the subject hiding behind an air conditioning unit at a local business. Tilton was arrested and transported to Crisp Regional Hospital. Once medically cleared by hospital staff he was transported to Crisp County Detention Center. Tilton is charged with one count Obstructing or Hindering Law Enforcement Officers, one count Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, one count Speeding in Excess of Maximum Limits, one count Driving While License Suspended, one count Possession of Open Alcohol Container, and numerous other traffic charges.
