THEFT LEADS TO CHASE

CRISP COUNTY- December 29, 2017

At approximately 12:40 PM on December 29, 2017, 911/Communication Officers dispatched a look out for a black male driving a black SUV type vehicle. The driver of the vehicle left Wal-Mart in Cordele with a 43 inch television and other miscellaneous merchandise without paying for it.

Deputies spotted the vehicle on Hwy 41 and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, at which time, the driver failed to yield. Deputies pursed the vehicle as the driver turned on Hwy 33, headed towards Worth County. After traveling approximately 4 miles into Worth County, the driver turned around and headed back North on Hwy 33 toward Crisp County. Assisting deputies were able to deploy stop sticks in attempt to stop the vehicle. The driver avoided the stop sticks; however the vehicle came to a rest on the embankment.

Donnerian Montrez Jackson, 33-year old resident of Sylvester, Georgia was arrested and transported to the Crisp County Detention Center. Jackson is charged with, felony fleeing and attempting to elude an officer, failure to exercise due care, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, and many other traffic violations. Jackson is also charged with felony obstruction of an officer, and cruelty to children in the 2nd degree. During the encounter there was a juvenile passenger in the vehicle. Cordele Police Department is handling all charges associated with the theft by shoplifting. Jackson is also wanted on outstanding warrants in Worth County for parole violation and theft of a motor vehicle.
