The Victim Assistance Program is a Unit within the Investigations Division of the Crisp County Sheriff's Office. The Unit responds to victims of violent crime and/or their families, victims in crisis, and family survivors in cases of violent and sudden death. Victim Advocates are non-sworn, civilian employees who aim to be the first source of help to victims of crime. These advocates assess the needs of victims and provide outreach, provide information and referrals about resources in the community, victim compensation benefits, and education and awareness of victims’ rights. Advocates work in cooperation with other community service provider agencies.
