Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

CRISP COUNTY- January 18, 2023

On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, around 1:00 P.M., a Crisp County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested Junyu Kim, a 23-year-old male from Los Angeles, California. Kim is charged with Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute and Speeding in Excess of Maximum Limits.

A Crisp County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a blue Toyota Corolla for speeding on GA 401/I75 near mile marker 96 North. During the traffic stop, the Deputy smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver stated he and the two passengers had smoked marijuana previously at a rest stop. A search of the vehicle resulted in cash and multiple pill bottles with various labels containing suspected Xanax bars and pills. Kim was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Crisp County Detention Center. Authorities determined that the two passengers were not in possession of the pills, and they were released.
