HANDCUFFED SUBJECT ATTEMPTS TO FLEE

CRISP COUNTY- May 14, 2018

Dalton Gregory 18-year-old male, resident of Crisp County, Georgia was arrested on May 14, 2018 at approximately 9:30AM after attempting to flee on foot. Thomas Salter 21-year-old male resident of Crisp County, Georgia was arrested on May 14, 2018 at approximately 8:40 AM.

Deputy Purvis initiated a field interrogation on three subjects walking at the intersection of GA HWY 300 and Bryds Mill Road. Deputy Purvis observed Salter throw an object behind his traffic unit. While Salter was detained Deputy Purvis then observed Gregory throw an object. Gregory was then placed in handcuffs. As Deputy Purvis attempted to question Salter further, Gregory began running down Bryds Mill Road into the woods. Gregory was taken into custody after a brief foot chase involving Crisp County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, K-9 Unit, Georgia State Patrol Post 30 Troopers, and the Georgia State Patrol Aviation Division.

Deputies on scene found two glass pipes with suspected meth residue inside them. Gregory and Salter were transported to Crisp County Detention Center. Gregory is charged with Obstruction of an Officer, Theft of Government Property, and Possession of Drug Related Objects. Salter is charged with Possession of Drug Related Objects. The third subject in the incident was released after further investigation.
