Wanted Person Apprehended

On December 31, investigators from the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) were notified by Wilcox County that a suspect with an active burglary warrant was said to be residing in Crisp County. At approximately 5:00 P.M., Deputy Hall responded to an address on West Road where he observed the suspect, Timothy Groomes, flee into the woods. Deputy First Class Spurling and K9 Rowdy were called to the scene, but they were unable to locate the suspect at that time. The homeowner, Amy Poole, was informed of the consequences of harboring and hindering the suspect's apprehension.

On January 15, CCSO received anonymous tips from multiple sources indicating that Groomes was again in Crisp County in the area of West Road, but he continued to evade capture.

On January 28, a citizen spotted Groomes driving a blue Chevy pickup on Hwy 257 North and reported it to an off-duty deputy. This information was relayed to Corporal Telfair and Deputy Kendrick, who were on duty. Around 9:00 P.M., the truck was located at a business on Hwy 257. Groomes was found inside the business, and Amy Poole was in the passenger seat of the pickup. Both Timothy Groomes and Amy Poole were taken into custody and transported to the Crisp County Detention Center.

Timothy Groomes, a 39-year-old male, has active warrants in other counties and is also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine).

Amy Poole, a 41-year-old female, was charged with hindering the apprehension or punishment of a criminal and has been released on bond.
