PRESS RELEASE
TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO THREE ARRESTS
CRISP COUNTY- August 20, 2019
In the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 20, 2019, a Crisp County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a 2015 Ford Explorer traveling southbound on Interstate 75 near mile marker 103 for following another vehicle too closely. When the deputy approached the car, a strong smell of marijuana was detected, and open containers of alcohol were spotted.
The driver of the vehicle, Addy Cook, stated that he and the other occupants of the vehicle had been smoking marijuana earlier and a small quantity was still inside the vehicle. A drug detection K-9 was deployed on the outside of the vehicle, and the K-9 alerted indicating illegal drugs were present inside the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle was then made by deputies, and during the search two kilograms of suspected methamphetamine, approximately nine hundred Oxycodone tablets and a firearm were found inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle. The three occupants of the vehicle were then arrested.
The case has been turned over to the Mid-South Narcotics Task Force for further investigation.
Arrested during the incident was 36-year-old Addy Cook of Sylvester, GA, 38-year-old Artarius Davis of Albany, GA and 36-year-old Demarcus Cook of Sylvester, GA. All three men were charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, trafficking in Oxycodone and weapon charges. They are currently being held in the Crisp County Detention Center.
