CLAYTON SUBJECT ARRESTED AFTER ATTEMPTING TO ELUDE OFFICERS

CRISP COUNTY- November 16, 2018

Ladarius Desean Clayton, a 22-year-old male and resident of Vienna, Georgia was placed under arrest on November 15, 2018, at approximately 1:30 a.m. Clayton faces charges of Fleeing or Attempted to Elude a Police Officer, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Driving while License Suspended, Acquiring License Plate for Purpose of Concealing Identification of a Motor Vehicle, Speeding in Excess of Maximum Limits, Reckless Driving, Failure to Obey Stop Sign, and Expired Tag.

Crisp County Sheriff’s Office Deputy, Corporal Duckworth responded to 13th and 24th Ave to assist Cordele Police Department with a possible stolen vehicle. As CPD Officer approached the stopped vehicle giving verbal commands the subject drove off. Corporal Duckworth initiated his emergency equipment to attempt to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, and the driver failed to stop. A Georgia State Trooper joined Crisp County Sheriff’s Office Deputies in the pursuit. Deputies deployed stop sticks in efforts to stop the vehicle; however, those efforts were unsuccessful. The vehicle came to a stop on the westbound side of Highway 280 West after a GSP Trooper conducted a pit maneuver. The subject then exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. After a short foot chase, Clayton was placed under arrest and transported to the Crisp County Detention Center. Sheriff Hancock thanks Georgia State Patrol Post 30 for their assistance in this chase and arrest.
