CRISP COUNTY- August 25, 2018

Crisp County Sheriff, Billy Hancock received information in the late hours of August 23, 2018 that two members of the agency were being held by Mexican Authorities at Federal Public Ministry for possession of weapons in the city of Cancun, Mexico. Both were being held for bringing a firearm into the country, possession of magazines and live ammo.

The two agency members are Martelle Davis and Shwana Davis. Martelle Davis is 36 years old and has been with the agency since 2014. Shwana Davis is 31 years old and recently started with the Agency as a School Resource Officer. She has been a certified officer for 6 years. The pair were arrested after landing from a Miami flight. They were traveling to Cancun on vacation.

Sheriff Billy Hancock stated, "After working closely with officials in the U.S. and Mexico to resolve the issue, the two were released late Saturday on bond. I can't thank all those on a State and Federal level who took my phone calls to assist enough. Each one played an important role in the release of these two deputies. Our prayers have been answered."
