Victims of Crime Act Grant Renewed

CRISP COUNTY- October 16, 2020

Crisp County Sheriff's Office is pleased to announce our Victims of Crimes Act (VOCA) Grant was renewed at $146,000.00. This grant renewal will allow us to continue growing our Victim Advocate Unit. In October of 2017, we announced we were awarded a Victims of Crimes Act Grant that allowed us to hire (2) two Crime Victim Advocates. Our Victim Advocates respond to violent crime victims and/or their families, victims in crisis, and family survivors in violent and sudden death cases. Victim Advocates are non-sworn, civilian employees who aim to be the first source of help to victims of crime. These advocates assess victims' needs and provide outreach, provide information and referrals about community resources, victim compensation benefits, and education and awareness of victims' rights. Advocates work in cooperation with other community service provider agencies. We are grateful we can continue to offer these resources to our crime victims.
