Motorist Assist Leads to Arrest
Crisp County, GA
January 22, 2026
On January 21, 2026, at approximately 3:45 p.m., a deputy from the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office initiated what she believed to be a motorist assist with a vehicle sitting stationary with emergency flashers activated on Old Albany Road, near McKinney Road. During this encounter, the driver fled the scene, leading to a pursuit.
The driver, Mykera Jones, was initially found asleep inside the vehicle. During the interaction, the deputy detected the odor of marijuana and discovered that Jones did not have a valid driver’s license and had multiple outstanding warrants. When the deputy asked her to step out of the vehicle, Jones fled southbound on Old Albany Road toward Highway 300 at a high rate of speed.
The pursuit continued into Worth County, where assistance from the Warwick Police Department led to Jones being located and taken into custody at a local gas station.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of suspected narcotics, a large amount of U.S. currency, multiple debit cards belonging to different individuals, numerous cell phones, blank checks, a laptop, and a firearm with ammunition.
Mykera Jones, a 26-year-old female from Dawson, GA, was transported to the Crisp County Jail and is charged with the following:
· Fleeing/Attempting to Elude an Officer
· 3 Counts – Financial Transaction Card Theft
· Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance
· Prescription Drugs Must be in their Original Container
· Obstructing or Hindering Law Enforcement Officers
· DUI
· Seatbelt Violation
· Speeding in Excess of Maximum Limits
· Reckless Driving
· Driving While License Suspended
