Victims of Crime Act Grant Renewed
CRISP COUNTY- October 14, 2022
Crisp County Sheriff's Office is pleased to announce the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) renewed our Victims of Crimes Act (VOCA) Grant at $116,800. In October 2017, CCSO was awarded the first Victims of Crimes Act Grant, which allowed the agency to hire (2) two Crime Victim Advocates. This renewal will assist the agency in continuing to provide two full-time Victim Assistants.
"We are grateful to be awarded a grant renewal. With this funding, we can continue growing our Victim Advocate Unit and offering free support services to victims of crime in Crisp County," stated Sheriff Billy Hancock.
The Victim Assistance Program is a Unit within the Investigations Division of the Crisp County Sheriff's Office. The Unit responds to victims of violent crime and/or their families, victims in crisis, and family survivors in cases of violent and sudden death. Victim Advocates are non-sworn, civilian employees who aim to be the first source of help to victims of crime. These advocates assess the needs of victims and provide outreach, information, and referrals about resources in the community, victim compensation benefits, and education and awareness of victims’ rights. Advocates work in cooperation with other community service provider agencies.
