On August 9, 2021, at around 10:20 P.M. Cordele Police Department requested mutual aid from Crisp County Sheriff’s Office/ Emergency Management for a male subject that climbed a water tower located in the city limits on 23rd Ave.
Crisp County Sheriff’s Office & Emergency Management responded to the scene around 10:30 P.M. Crisp County Special Response Team (SRT) Crisis Communicator and responders on scene worked to establish a dialogue with the subject. Crisp County Emergency Management requested additional state resources like GSP Aviation and Georgia Search and Rescue (GSAR) Central Task Force. In addition to the requested resources, several local agencies were on the scene, including Cordele Police Department, Crisp County EMS, Cordele Fire Department, Georgia State Patrol Post 30, and Cordele Public Works.
After hours of negotiations around 2:45 A.M., the subject climbed down the ladder. He was then placed into custody and transported by Cordele Police Department to Crisp Regional Hospital for a mental and physical evaluation.
